Allergic to Christmas?

Greetings!
We had fun putting up the tree, even though my youngest son felt my ornament I got as a baby was the oldest antique he ever saw!  The lights are on the front bushes, and the decorations are spread around the house. Everything looks nice and festive. But not everyone can enjoy everything at the holidays.
Some people are allergic to Christmas.  No, they are not trying to be Scrooges...there are just a lot of reasons that some allergies flair up at Christmas.
A fresh Christmas tree---has tree pollens and saps that can irritate some peoples sinuses.
An artificial tree-- can have dust or mold from improper storage.
Candles--some scented candles can irritate allergies.
Here is a little video showing someone with Christmas allergies and what she does to alleviate them.  However, she does not mention the use of an air purifier...which would definitely help!

Thanksgiving with Food Allergies

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the one of the major holidays that focuses on a meal.  I know it is supposed to be more about the people who you share that meal with...but the bottom line is the FOOD.

I know that I am incredibly thankful for my family and friends this year.  We had two weddings, which were extremely happy times...and then finding help for our teenage daughter, which was an extremely stressful time.  But through it all, friends and family pulled through for us, in prayer and thoughts, and even financially. We are very blessed.

When we have family gatherings we have to take in account of people with food allergies or illnesses.  I have a sister with Celiac disease...who cannot eat gluten (wheat, oats, rye).  I also have a diabetic nephew.  So, our menu has to be constructed to be mindful of what they can and cannot eat.  I know my kids love the traditional turkey dinner with the regular side dishes but we still have to read labels and know what we are putting into these dishes.  Actually, this is a pretty good practice of all people.  If you can't understand what is on the label, then it probably isn't that good for you.

If you want to know more about food allergies and some resources to help you then look here---
Food Allergies

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Remember, people like to hear they are appreciated and loved.  TELL your family and friends this for Thanksgiving...it'll be the best gift you can bring to the table.

Do You Like Soda?

Do You Drink Soda Regularly?

If so, read on... it's important!

One can of regular soda exceeds the maximum recommendation for daily sugar intake!

According to industry reports, the average American drinks 53 gallons of soft drinks every year, which makes it the most consumed beverage, even above milk, water, coffee.
The amount of sugar in soft drinks varies, but they usually contain 7-11 teaspoons of sugar per 12 ounces.
These excessively sugary drinks can affect your teeth enamel, along with many other health risks associated with a high sugar diet. Soft drinks are also extremely acidic, and do not help your body sustain a healthy pH balance.
So why are they consistently popular?

Nourish Your Body with Healthy Water

Unlike soft drinks, juice, sports drinks, coffee drinks, and alcohol, water is naturally sugar-free.
There are no calories, no addictive ingredients, no caffeine, no artificial flavors, no allergens, and no side effects of water.
Water hydrates your body so it can stay at peak performance all day, with no “crash” two hours after consumption.
There is no better way to keep your body healthy and hydrated than by drinking plenty of pure, clean water.

Kangen Water!Choose the Best for Proper Hydration

The quality of the water you drink is crucial to maintaining proper health. Kangen Water® is high-quality alkaline water that is clean, delicious, and an excellent choice for maintaining good health.
You can sustain a healthier pH balance with Kangen Water® and enjoy a great tasting beverage that is conveniently available on your kitchen counter.
When you’re looking for a beverage to quench your thirst and keep you hydrated, don’t trust a caffeinated drink with too much sugar. You need Kangen Water® to nourish your body and give you the boost you need to stay healthy.

Only Enagic Distributors share this water with others!  Let me know if you want to try some...if you aren't in my area, I can try to find someone who is in your area.

Let's See--Coke or Water?

Thirsty???  Need something refreshing to drink?  Something to energize you?  Coke or Water?
Check it out and find out what your body needs .....

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

(Likely applies to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain or up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8.. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from

the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour,

then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds

Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble

away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1 the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric

acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous material place

cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water? or Coke? It takes 3 DAYS to correct the acid one coke puts into your body.  So--How thirsty are you???

And DON’T even get me started about Gatorade, Powerade, Sports and Energy Drinks!

The only solution is clear-- drink WATER---and the best, healthiest water on the planet is Kangen Water!

Managing Cholesterol

Greetings!!

There are several ways that you can begin to manage your own cholesterol whether you have a genetic predisposition or not. You can truly lower your cholesterol without drugs if you do ALL of these things every day.  I am not saying that it is easy, but if you do it, you will see a change. And even if you don't do all of these things at once, even some of them will offer heart healthy benefits to you. Start with a few, then add a few more after a week and continue that until you are doing all of these things every day:
  • Eat oatmeal for breakfast.  Steel cut is the best, but use old fashioned if you can't deal with the steel cut.
  • Eat a handful of almonds every day (a combination of almonds and walnuts also works). Buy them UNSALTED and raw from the baking aisle.  1/4 to 1/3 cup per day is good.
  • Eat 1-2 Tbs milled or ground flax seed. This can be added to the oatmeal, to your yogurt, sprinkled on salad, or my favorite is adding to my Juice Plus smoothie!
  • Take psyllium husk (most commonly found in Metamucil but can also be found in health food stores in its pure form).
  • Eat 1/2 cup legumes every day.
  • Eat an apple every day! (yes that old adage about keeping the doctor away works)
  • Take plant sterols (2-3 grams a day. These substances are found in many foods now but can be taken as a supplement easily. And of course they are found in high levels in the Juice Plus brand that Healthy Environments promotes.).
  • Use soy protein (soy milk, edamame, soy nuts, tofu, etc).  I know--there has been some bad press around this issue. That was with very high doses and not using foods. So stick to the foods and not the high doses in supplements.
  • Take garlic--and eat it too!  Aged garlic extract is a good source.  But put real garlic cloves in your food as often as you can.
  • EXERCISE--yes, that means move on a regular basis. Even if you focus on walking 30 minutes a day, that is perfect!
Not only are the above steps good for lowering cholesterol, but many are generally healthy habits as well.  The reasons are complex and directly influence different ways that the body produces and attacks cholesterol.  But, for most people, this plan will allow you to improve your cholesterol outlook without drugs.  All you need to do is go to the grocery store with these things on your list.
So, rather than focusing on what you need to give up and what your doctor has told you to 'stay away from, focus on this list of TO DOs.  Check them off every day for heart disease prevention and to move towards healthy cholesterol levels.

To Your Health....

Halloween is for Sugar Lovers

Happy Halloween!

Here are a few Halloween fun facts from the National Confectioners Association:

* 93 percent of children go trick-or-treating every year.
* Each Halloween $2 billion is spent on candy.
* 30 percent of kids report that they SORT their candy first when returning home with trick-or-treat loot
* Kids say they prefer homes that give: anything made with chocolate (68 percent) followed by lollipops (9 percent), gummy candy (7 percent) and bubble gum or chewing gum (7 percent).
* Parents favorite treats to sneak from their kids’ trick-or-treat bags are snack-size chocolate bars (70 percent sneak these), candy-coated chocolate pieces (40 percent), caramels (37 percent) and gum (26 percent).

Halloween is the most child-centered holiday of the year, with Christmas and Hannukah running closely behind. It’s also the most sugar-centric day of the year, and perhaps should be considered the grand kick-off to a season of overindulging our appetites, climaxing at Thanksgiving, ending sometime between Christmas and New Year’s Day, when we vow to shed the holiday ten.

Most of us allow our children to enjoy some of the spoils from Halloween, but doling out loads of candy over the weeks and months that follow can skew a child’s sense of the amount of sugar needed to make a treat sweet (and yummy), making healthful treats made with lower quantities of sweetener unappealing (a.k.a. yucky.)

Fall Allergies? Avoid these---

ATTENTION!

If you have fall allergies, you may be able to reduce your symptoms by avoiding certain foods and drinks. Your body interprets chemicals in certain foods to be allergens...which can lead to itchiness, runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing and more. Check this list for surprising trigger and consider avoiding them to help with allergies.

If you are allergic to RAGWEED then avoid...bananas, cantaloupes, chamomile tea(a close relative of ragweed), honeydew, watermelon, zucchini.

If you are allergic to TREE POLLEN then avoid....almonds, apples, carrots, cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, pears, plums.

If you are allergic to GRASS then avoid...melons, oranges, tomatoes.

If you have seasonal allergies then avoid....beer, wine, liquor (all 3 contain histamine)

This information was stated by Clifford Bassett, MD, member of the public education committee of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Have a HEALTHY Day!

The Truth about Vitamin and Energy Waters

Truth About Vitamin Water -- Do 'Functional Beverages' Work?

Water used to be just a source of mere hydration, but over the last decade the bottled variety has undergone a makeover. Enriched with all sorts of ingredients, from vitamin C to lemongrass, the beverage appears to offer a smorgasbord of health benefits, but truth be told, so-called "functional water" is more the work of clever marketing than a means of disease prevention.

Health for Sale
With the help of health buzzwords and smart packaging, beverage companies are taking advantage of our obsession with quick weight-loss solutions and wellness products. (In Japan, even logic-defying "diet water" is for sale.) This has caused bottled water sales to skyrocket.

In 2009, Americans ingested a whopping 8.5 billion gallons of H20. In fact, soda is the only drink Americans reach for more. Although the Food and Drug Administration is charged with regulating bottled water labeling, beverages that claim to energize, increase mental focus, improve memory, prevent heart disease and blast fat can be found on store shelves across the country.

For example, SoBe Lifewater's "B-energy" drink says it will "help your body unlock and release energy found in food." However, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) notes that B vitamins help convert proteins, fats and carbs into energy; they do not make a person feel more energetic. Most likely, any "energized" feeling you get as a result of drinking it is due to caffeine -- one bottle of B-energy contains more of the stimulant than a can of Coke.

For those of you concerned about memory loss, San Francisco–based Purity.Organic wants to help. The company's functional-water beverages contain ginkgo biloba, which they claim enhances memory. Unfortunately, there is no conclusive evidence to support an effect of ginkgo on memory or dementia, according to the National Council Against Health Fraud.

Some beverage companies build advertising campaigns around promising -- but preliminary -- research leading consumers to believe a functional water is some kind of prevention miracle. People who purchase Preventiv, a functional water containing the red wine antioxidant resveratrol, are led to think that their bottle of Berry Bordeaux benefits the heart. Preventiv's slogan is "Enjoy the heart healthy, anti-aging benefits of a case of red wine." (The company notes that the statement has not been evaluated by the FDA.) Although animal studies have
demonstrated positive effects of resveratrol, a review of research on the chemical in the April issue of the journal Mechanisms of Ageing and Development showed that scientists are still in the midst of figuring out how it works in humans.

So, don't swallow the functional Kool-Aid just yet.

Lessons in Labeling
Last year, the CSPI filed a class action lawsuit against Coca-Cola for the health claims made on its product VitaminWater. CSPI stated that VitaminWater flavor labels such as 'defense' and 'energy' "play on the health-conscious mindset of consumers." The popular brand also came under fire for claiming, among other health benefits, to promote healthy joints, support immune function, and reduce the risk of chronic disease.

Perhaps most disturbing is that each bottle of VitaminWater contains 33 grams of sugar. CSPI wrote in the suit, "it is just another flavored, sugary snack food like Coca-Cola, except they chose not to carbonate it." (The company does, however, offer VitaminWater Zero that uses a natural sweetener instead.) "The sugars in VitaminWater actually inhibit the body's ability to burn fat," says Esther Blum, a dietician in New York City and author of "Eat, Drink and Be Gorgeous: A Nutritionist's Guide to Living Well While Living It Up." "If you really want to drink flavored water, stick with unsweetened or naturally-sweetened."

Not only was VitaminWater misleading consumers with health claims; it was potentially causing weight gain.

To Drink or Not to Drink ...
In August, San Francisco-based Soma Beverage Company introduced yet another nutrient-rich water. Called Goodberrymint, the beverage is unsweetened -- a plus -- and contains several types of berries, as well as mint. It sounds tasty, sure. But, says Blum, "nothing can replace fruits and vegetables in a diet." So, although the average American is already guzzling 400 calories daily, functional water should not be considered an alternative source of nutrients, or a way to prevent disease. Rather, think of it as just a fancier way to stay hydrated.

How Soda Feeds Cancer & Tumors!

Greetings!

It wasn't that long ago that I enjoyed a soda or Gatorade as a special treat. I didn't buy that stuff often but did keep it available for my kids and their friends when they came over to visit. This is now a distant memory in my past. I love my kids and care for their friends too much to offer them a soda...or as some Naturopathic doctors call soda...Cancer in a Can.

Studies show that sodas and Gatorades will encourage cancer and tumors to grow in a body. I have shown people in my Kangen Water demos that these drinks take about 3 days for the body to recover from the acid amount it added to the body. I am not that thirsty...to drink 30 glasses of water to eliminate the acid from soda or Gatorade.

Here is one study that shows the dangers of drinking soda!
Cancer & Tumor Growth from Soda

So...have an Iced Tea, Lemonade or better yet, water...or Kangen Water...instead of a cancer enhancing drink. Okay?

Have a healthy day!

The Allergy Queen: Are Your Laundry & Cleaning Soaps Safe?

The Allergy Queen: Are Your Laundry & Cleaning Soaps Safe?: "Greetings! Did you know that more people get sick or die from poisoning of common household products? These are products we use every day...."

Are Your Laundry & Cleaning Soaps Safe?

Greetings!

Did you know that more people get sick or die from poisoning of common household products? These are products we use every day... on our clothes, our furniture and even the dishes we eat off of! Because we can never fully rinse these chemicals off, we tend to breathe them or taste them.

Because we are unable to feel, see, smell, or taste many household toxins at first contact, it is important to be aware of the most common household toxins and to proactively take measures to prevent or reduce our exposure to them.

The most common household toxins are as follows:

1. Triclosan:
Most commonly found in: many liquid soaps and in some deodorants, toothpastes, cosmetics, kitchenware, and children's toys.

2. Phthalates:

Linked to: endocrine, reproductive, and developmental problems.

Most commonly found in: vinyl flooring, plastic food packaging, plastic bags, plastic clothing, detergents, children's toys, shower curtains, and personal care products like soap, shampoo, nail polish, and hair spray.

3. Bisphenol A:
Linked to: endocrine problems.

Most commonly found in: food and drink containers, baby bottles, teethers, toys, metal food cans, and dental sealants used to prevent cavities.

4. Carbon monoxide:
Linked to: cardiovascular and nervous system failure.

Most commonly produced by: leaking furnaces and chimneys, gas stoves, wood stoves and fireplaces, back-drafting from gas water heaters, and auto exhaust from an attached garage or nearby traffic.

5. Perfluorinated chemicals:

Linked to: many different types of cancer and developmental problems in children.

Most commonly found in: teflon-coated cookware, microwave popcorn bags, and stain-guarded clothing, furniture, and carpets.

6. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs):

Linked to: reproductive, respiratory, neurological, and developmental problems. Also linked to different types of cancer.

Most commonly found in: air fresheners, hair spray, perfumes, cleaning products, paints, carpets, and furniture made out of pressed wood.

7. Radon:

Linked to: lung cancer.

Most commonly found in: confined spaces, the most common of which are poorly ventilated basements that have cracked walls and/or floors.

8. Lead:

Linked to: cancer, neurological dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, reproductive problems, and developmental problems in children.

Most commonly found in: lead plumbing pipes found in older homes, lead-based paint, crystal tableware, and some varieties of imported mini-blinds.

9. Pesticides and herbicides:

Most commonly found in: non-organic food supply, non-organic farming regions, and non-organic landscaped areas that are well maintained.

Although we are all at risk of experiencing health problems due to exposure to the household toxins listed above, particularly worrisome are the effects that these toxins may have on babies growing in their mothers' wombs.

A study conducted in 2004 by the Environmental Working Group found that umbilical cord blood from 10 newborns contained chemicals used in consumer products, pesticides, and by-products from gasoline, garbage, and the burning of coal.

Still, within the context of living emotionally balanced lives, we can significantly lower our risk of developing many different types of chronic disease by doing our best to avoid the most common sources of the toxins listed in this article.

11 Reasons to Stop Drinking Milk

Greetings!

True or False? Drinking lots of milk helps prevent osteoporosis.
FALSE! Studies show that countries who drink lots of milk have more osteoporosis than countries that don't drink milk.
So-- is milk good for you? Not really. The dairy industry introduced milk years ago and since most people like the taste of it, incorporated it into the human diet as a necessary nutrient.
Here is a great article with 11 reasons why you shouldn't drink milk. So, if you and your family consume a lot of dairy products you may want to start reducing your intake on dairy so you can have a healthier future.
The first 3 reasons why Dairy is bad for you are:

1. Cow’s milk is intended for baby cows.  We’re the only species (other than those we are domesticating) that drinks milk after infancy.  And, we’re definitely the only ones drinking the milk of a different species.
2.  Hormones. Not only are the naturally-present hormones in cow’s milk stronger than human hormones, the animals are routinely given steroids and other hormones to plump them up and increase milk production.  These hormones can negatively impact humans’ delicate hormonal balance.
3.  Most cows are fed inappropriate food.  Commercial feed for cows contains all sorts of ingredients that include:  genetically-modified (GM) corn, GM soy, animal products, chicken manure, cottonseed, pesticides, and antibiotics.

How to Clean your Fruits & Veggies

Greetings!

Recent studies are suggesting that the chemicals left on our fruits and veggies may be causing Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD or ADHD) in our children.  How can you be sure you are getting all the pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals off your foods before you feed them to your family?

I made a little video that shows how I wash my produce.  The timing on the sound is a bit off so I look a bit weirder than usual...ha!  But you will get the idea.

Kangen Water has Record Sales in 2010

Approximately 4,000 Kangen Water machines are shipped monthly in the United States. The Enagic equipment has been perfected over decades of research by Japanese scientists. Using the highest-quality components, the machines purify water and ionize it, creating healthy Kangen Water for drinking. The water retains healthy minerals such as calcium while filtering out contaminants, and the alkaline structure makes it rich in antioxidants. Enagic machines are recognized by the Japanese government as medical devices, and used in Japanese hospitals to promote health. Enagic ionizers are also widely used in households around the world, with strong growth in the United States. In addition to drinking water, Enagic ionizers also create other specialized types of water, including acidic water for cleaning that can help eliminate the use of cleaning chemicals. As consumer interest in protecting both the environment and personal health grows, so have sales of Kangen Water.

The company's Q1 results expanded at an unheard of rate as households across the country learn of the benefits of Kangen Water, the tremendous potential of the firm's compensation plan, and the peace of mind afforded with the security of the company. Throughout the difficult economic times, Enagic has continued to thrive. After 36 years as the leading manufacturer of healthy ionizers, Enagic predicts strong interest in Kangen Water will grow throughout 2010 and into the coming decade.

This amazing water, produced with a state-of-the-art filtration machine manufactured by Enagic, a leader in the water purification industry. For over 30 years, this company has been conducting ground-breaking research in water with the power to create an alkaline body and positioning itself as an authority on the subject of water quality and its power to improve our daily lives.

According to Live Science, these diet tricks will actually help you keep off the pounds:
diet tricks

Avoid corn syrup
Science shows that high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is bad news. One study showed that rats who drank HFCS-sweetened beverages gained significantly more weight than rats consuming the same amount of calories in sugar.
Keep away from junk food -- It's Addictive
Junk food can affect your brain in ways similar to drug abuse.
Structure meal times
Long stretches without food make people crave energy-dense snacks, which can make healthy choices difficult.
Satisfy your body -- especially at breakfast
A protein-rich breakfast leaves you less hungry for the rest of the day. Some fat in the meal can help, too.
Favor foods closer to nature
Favoring whole fresh foods over processed ones will naturally optimize the healthiness of your food choices.
Change your environment
Altering your food environment -- whether this means using smaller plates or keeping seconds out of immediate reach -- can help you lose weight.
Enjoy your food
Food that is eaten mindlessly is neglected food. When you pay attention, you are satisfied in a deeper way.

Getting Kids to Eat Fruits and Vegetables

Greetings!

You want to make sure your child is eating enough fruits and vegetables, but kids just don’t want to go near them.  Some parents resort to hiding fruits and vegetables in kid-friendly foods.  But some nutrition experts feel that if kids don’t know they are eating this good food, they may never make the connection to eat it in the future.

Be sure you are setting a good example by eating fruits and vegetables in front of your child, as children who see adults eating healthy foods are more apt to try them.  But if the only way your picky eater will go near fruits and vegetables is if they are hidden in your family recipes, then try these tips:

Getting Fruits & Veggies into Kids

So...try and keep it fun!  Plus, eat good food with your kids and soon they will be doing it themselves.

Have a great day!

ABC Announces Soda can Help Prevent Kidney Stones!

Soda Prevents Kidney Stones???
I highly doubt it.  A kidney stone is usually caused by an increase of acid in the kidneys.  Soda is extremely acidic.  It is so acidic it takes almost 3 days to return your body back to the state it was before consuming the soda.
Here is the article by ABC News....
Soda & Kidney Stones

What is your opinion on this?
Add acid to your body to get rid of a build up of acid??? Hmmm...doesn't make sense to me!

10 Reasons to Drink More Water

More than two-thirds of your body weight is water. Without adequate water your body’s biochemical and electrical (yes electrical, read on!) processes begin to break down. The list of reasons your body needs water is as plentiful as the functions in your body, so due to space limitations, here are 10 good reasons to drink more water:
1. Your blood is over 80 percent water and needs water to make healthy new blood cells.
2. Your bones are over 50 percent water and, you guessed it, need water to make healthy new bone cells.
3. Drinking more water actually helps lessen pain in your body by getting your lymphatic system moving. The lymphatic system is a network of nodes, tubes, vessels, and fluid that move waste out of your tissues. It requires water to function properly.
4. Water helps to eliminate wastes and toxins from your body through the lymphatic system, kidneys, and intestines.
5. Water lubricates your joints and helps reduce joint pain and protect against wear and tear.
6. Water regulates your metabolism so if you’re overweight chances are you may need more water.
7. Water balances body temperature.
8. Water helps to ensure adequate electrical functioning so your brain and nervous system function properly. Your brain and nervous system send out electrical signals to function properly. Researchers estimate that your brain gives off about the same amount of electricity as a 60 watt light bulb. So, there’s some truth to the image of a light bulb going on when someone has a good idea.
9. Water alleviates dehydration (and I’ve already mentioned that most people are chronically dehydrated).
10. Every cell and organ in your body requires adequate water to function properly.
So, one of the quickest and easiest ways to improve your health is to start drinking more pure water every day. Be sure to drink water an empty stomach or you’ll simply be diluting your digestive enzymes and making your digestion less effective.
And, choose purified water as much as possible (but get yourself a BPA-free water bottle so you won’t pollute the planet with all those plastic water bottles. In wealthy, developed nations with plentiful access to water, we really have no excuses for not drinking enough water.

Kangen Water & Parkinsons

Greetings!

It is always amazing to see health benefits from products we use.  Kangen Water, made by Enagic, is no exception.  Most people will see positive changes in their health after drinking Kangen Water for a week.  No one would ever come back and ask for refills of water gallons with regular bottled water.

Here is a wonderful story.  I have met Steve on numerous occasions and all I have seen is a healthy looking man.  I did not know him when he was so ill with Parkinsons.  Does this water cure Parkinsons?  NO....

This water does not CURE anything.  Once the body is hydrated properly then it can begin to heal itself...the way God intended our body to work.

Update on our Hypo-Allergenic Cat

Greetings!

Well, we've had our Russian Siberian kitten for 2 1/2 months now and he is growing quickly.  At 4 months he weighed 6 lbs.  At the end of April he will be 6 months old and I think he is around 10 lbs. now.  He is a beautiful cat with expressive golden eyes.  He is very playful and extremely affectionate.  He will crawl up on my lap and put his front paws on my shoulder and cuddle like a baby.  My kids (the Russian-Siberian kids!) adore him and fight over who gets to sleep with him each night.  My older 3 sons claim they do not like cats, but we have caught each one of them holding the cat or playing with him.  Their response when we have mentioned this? "Dogs are better."  Yeah, but they still like this cat.
My husband, who usually has to use an inhaler around a cat, has been fine with him.  Nikita is a big furry kitten and up till now has shed very little.  I am seeing that we need to brush him more as I hear they do shed a lot in the spring and fall.  I have begun to see more clumps of fur on the carpeting and on clothes... as sure sign we are really cat owners now.
I found that Discovery Planet does a nice job describing different breeds of cats. Their video on Siberians is pretty accurate.  These cats are quite dog like and a lot of fun.  They are so cute too!
Here is the video....
Click on 'Siberian' to learn more about this amazing breed.
Our kitten looks like the reddish one with white markings in the video.

So---if you have cat allergies but want a pet, this may be one cat you can tolerate.  But any reliable breeder will want you to check this out before you bring a kitten home.
Here is a photo of Nikita...our Russian Siberian cat.  I think he may just double in size in the next few years!

Proof that Enagic uses Medical Devices

Greetings!
Over and over I hear that Enagic's units are too expensive and that other units on the market are THE SAME for less money.  However, they are not the same.  Over 90% of our competition are units made from the same factory in Korea.  These units are NOT listed as medical devices and have no certificates to prove this.  Some websites claim they have certificates but if you check further you will find the numbers on these papers are not legitimate.
Our units, that produce Kangen Water, are medical devices and have been used in over 200 hospitals and clinics in Japan for over 30 years.
Here is a page listing our medical certificates.

Is Kangen Water different than other Waters?

Greetings!

I hear all the time that our Enagic water units are over priced and that there are other units out there that are the same as ours but half the price.  That is what those companies want you to believe.  Once you drink Kangen water for any period of time you will find that no other water can compare to it.  Here are some facts....

Enagic's devices are licensed medical devices and have been granted a license number by the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare.

These machines are manufactured in Japan and are sold in the United States. These other companies selling their machines in the US do not have Japanese approval or even the recognition in their own country as a medical device.
SD501

Are we the best? Well, let's put it this way.

In 2009 we have sold more than 500,000 devices in Japan and the United States.
In 2002, our firm was individually recognized by the Japanese Association of Preventative Medicine for Adult Diseases, a renowned medical association.
In 2007, the Enagic Osaka factory acquired ISO 13485 (medical equipment), ISO9001 (quality control), and ISO14001 (environmental management) license recognition.
Plus, we offer global repair and support service for our units, something no other company offers nor supports.
Our machines can be serviced in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the European Union, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.  95% of all other units on the market are manufactured in Korea...most from the same plant known for making ice machines.  They are not made with medical grade parts like Enagic units.

Would you like to take a tour of the Enagic plant to see how they are made?

The Truth about your Tap Water

Greetings!

Most of us assume that our tap water is pretty clean.  We really hope it is since we use tap water all day long...to drink, wash off our produce, wash our bodies and more.  Do I really want water that is full of chemicals and sewage to be 'washing off' my fruit?

Here is a nice site that tells you a little more info about your tap water.  You can even go to the water treatment site for your area and see how they treat your tap water.

Personally, I am very thankful to have Kangen Water in my life.  I can drink clean alkaline water and also clean all my produce thoroughly of pesticides and bacteria.   Kangen Water

Day 3 Being Dairy-Free

Greetings!
3 days ago I spoke with my sister about food allergies.  She has celiac disease which simply means her body does not process gluten.  Therefore she is on a gluten free diet.  I was tested for celiac since it does run in families but I do not have it.  However, I still have some sinus issues and my sister thought I should try a dairy-free diet.
Dairy products are not as healthy as the dairy industry would like us all to believe.  Dairy can cause skin issues, congestion, and digestive issues.
So...3 days ago I began my dairy-free diet.  This includes reading labels for hidden dairy ingredients.  So far, I have been pretty good.  I had almond milk on my cereal this morning and it tasted ok.  We had tacos last night and I avoided the sour cream and grated cheese...although I missed them! All in all, the tacos tasted ok and I tried not to think of it.
I was curious if others on Dairy-Free diets have any products they LOVE that are great substitutes for the dairy products we are used to.
Any suggestions or tips????
I will let you know how this progresses for me and if it really makes a difference in how I feel!

Until next time....

Chronic Kidney Disease needs Hydration

Chronic Kidney Disease a Case For Ultra-hydration
By LouAnn Savage

Do you get up in the morning and on that first trip to the bathroom find your urine to be a dark yellow color with a pungent ammonia smell? This is your clue that you're biological terrain is way over on the acidic side. I'm not writing this to scare you...but then again, maybe I am. Maybe it's going to be your wake-up call and if it is, I'm glad.

Here's the deal. You've slept all night without going to the bathroom while the body continues to clean toxins out of your system and dump them into your kidneys. All systems are go and they are working hard to keep you functioning on automatic until you can wake up and hydrate. Once you hydrate the kidneys are happy. The toxin build-up in your kidneys gets flushed out. Making sure you hydrate well first thing upon awakening and before eating is the single most important thing you can do for your overall health.

Located to the back of the abdomen, the kidneys are a pair of organs you can't live without. Hard to imagine, but all the blood in our body goes through the kidneys over and over during the day...and night. They perform the critical function of filtering the blood and creating urine that is the waste product of the work they do 24/7. The kidneys regulate fluid volume, composition of minerals and acidity when they excrete and reabsorb water and inorganic electrolytes. A complex regulatory system that contributes to the balance of sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, sulfate, phosphate and hydrogen within the body, they maintain the normal concentrations in the extracellular fluids.

Because your kidneys balance your body's acid-alkaline balance, the level of bicarbonate in your blood is extremely important. Bicarbonate [HCO3] is a chemical or buffer that prevents the pH of the blood from becoming too acidic or too alkaline. This task of the kidneys is imperative for you to have life.

When there is ingestion or production of too much acid or too much alkaline substances, it becomes a stressor for the kidneys. This can make for difficulty in regulating pH. It's also possible to lose as much as 90% of kidney function without even experiencing any symptoms or problems. It makes the case for why water is critical to the health of your kidneys. It is the most important element for keeping you healthy and averting kidney disease.

Remember this, kidneys are the final buffer for facilitating the body's ability to keep its acid and alkaline conditions in balance. What is scary about chronic kidney disease is this. When you finally discover you have it, it has been present for many, many years. When you know this, the single most critical reason for drinking the very best water you can lay your hands on makes even more sense. And what would that water be? That would be micro-ionized, structured water. It's a water that has been proven scientifically to have superior efficacy and contribute to homeostasis. When choosing a micro-ionized water take a good, deep, hard look at Kangen water. A water endorsed by 6500 medical doctors in Japan and is the preferred water of Hiromi Shinya, M.D. cited on page 94 of his best selling book, The Enzyme Factor .
