Chronic Kidney Disease needs Hydration

Chronic Kidney Disease a Case For Ultra-hydration
By LouAnn Savage

Do you get up in the morning and on that first trip to the bathroom find your urine to be a dark yellow color with a pungent ammonia smell? This is your clue that you're biological terrain is way over on the acidic side. I'm not writing this to scare you...but then again, maybe I am. Maybe it's going to be your wake-up call and if it is, I'm glad.

Here's the deal. You've slept all night without going to the bathroom while the body continues to clean toxins out of your system and dump them into your kidneys. All systems are go and they are working hard to keep you functioning on automatic until you can wake up and hydrate. Once you hydrate the kidneys are happy. The toxin build-up in your kidneys gets flushed out. Making sure you hydrate well first thing upon awakening and before eating is the single most important thing you can do for your overall health.

Located to the back of the abdomen, the kidneys are a pair of organs you can't live without. Hard to imagine, but all the blood in our body goes through the kidneys over and over during the day...and night. They perform the critical function of filtering the blood and creating urine that is the waste product of the work they do 24/7. The kidneys regulate fluid volume, composition of minerals and acidity when they excrete and reabsorb water and inorganic electrolytes. A complex regulatory system that contributes to the balance of sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, sulfate, phosphate and hydrogen within the body, they maintain the normal concentrations in the extracellular fluids.

Because your kidneys balance your body's acid-alkaline balance, the level of bicarbonate in your blood is extremely important. Bicarbonate [HCO3] is a chemical or buffer that prevents the pH of the blood from becoming too acidic or too alkaline. This task of the kidneys is imperative for you to have life.

When there is ingestion or production of too much acid or too much alkaline substances, it becomes a stressor for the kidneys. This can make for difficulty in regulating pH. It's also possible to lose as much as 90% of kidney function without even experiencing any symptoms or problems. It makes the case for why water is critical to the health of your kidneys. It is the most important element for keeping you healthy and averting kidney disease.

Remember this, kidneys are the final buffer for facilitating the body's ability to keep its acid and alkaline conditions in balance. What is scary about chronic kidney disease is this. When you finally discover you have it, it has been present for many, many years. When you know this, the single most critical reason for drinking the very best water you can lay your hands on makes even more sense. And what would that water be? That would be micro-ionized, structured water. It's a water that has been proven scientifically to have superior efficacy and contribute to homeostasis. When choosing a micro-ionized water take a good, deep, hard look at Kangen water. A water endorsed by 6500 medical doctors in Japan and is the preferred water of Hiromi Shinya, M.D. cited on page 94 of his best selling book, The Enzyme Factor .

Had a Healthy Dose of Laughter today?

Why is Laughter good for your health?

  • Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.
  • Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
  • Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
  • Laughter protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.
Laughter is truly the best medicine we have.  Read this great article on Laughter!

I'd like to give you a little dose of LAUGHTER right now....
Just watch this little video and try not to laugh.

Here's to your health.  Have a great day!

Warning: Genetically Modified Foods

Genetically Modified Foods (GMO)

Genetically modified or genetically engineered fruits and vegetables grown for human consumption are big business on an insidious worldwide scale. Backers of genetic modification believe it to be the only viable way to feed a growing global population without depleting natural resources. Critics of GM farming— and I am one of them—consider it eco-tampering and a threat to biodiversity. There very well could be a rise in allergic reactions to foods as well as more use of chemicals, causing a less healthy situation.

Read a very interesting article by Nutrition Therapist, Daniella Chase on this subject.
We need to be aware of how industry is changing our foods.  Be informed.  Knowledge is GOOD!

Food Myths

Here are common questions & myths about some foods we eat.

Q: Are baby carrots preserved with bleach?

A: Not exactly … and there's no reason to stop eating them, says Randy Worobo, Ph.D., an associate professor of food microbiology at Cornell University. Baby carrots are rinsed (not preserved) in a chlorine wash, recommended by the FDA, to kill bacteria like salmonella and E. coli, which cause foodborne illness. Most precut produce, including frozen veggies and fruit salad, is washed with this or a similar sanitizer.

Q: Can eating too much sugar cause diabetes?

A: Not in the same smoking-gun way that cigarettes cause cancer, but research shows that sugar may play a part—and it's smart to limit your intake. First and foremost, being overweight does increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and consuming too much sugar can contribute to weight gain.

Still, some emerging research suggests that excess sugar intake can increase diabetes risk regardless of weight. A landmark JAMA study found that women nearly doubled their diabetes risk when they increased the number of sugar-added drinks they consumed from 1 or fewer a week to 1 or more per day over a 4-year period.

Q: Do spicy foods boost metabolism?

A: We wish! Your metabolic rate is determined by your gender, height, present weight/body composition, and age. These factors determine the amount of calories the body will burn to maintain the basic functions of life that occur even when we sleep—the energy used by the heart, brain, lungs, intestines, etc. Eating spicy foods cannot significantly increase metabolic rate and help you burn more calories at rest.

Although your body temperature may temporarily rise and your heart may beat a bit faster after eating "hot" foods, over the long term spices will not make any changes in the rate of metabolism.

Q: Is white flour bleached with dangerous chemicals?

A: No. Some Web sites allege that flour is bleached with alloxan, a compound that caused diabetes in animal research, but experts tell us that's not true. Flour bleaches naturally on its own as yellow compounds called xantophylls react with oxygen in the air; this takes several weeks. To speed the whitening, processors bleach flour—turning it white from its natural straw color—with safe, FDA-regulated chemicals (some of the same ones used to sanitize veggies).

Alloxan may form as a byproduct, but the amount is minuscule (less than 0.03 mg per slice of bread) and harmless, says Julie Jones, Ph.D., professor emeritus of family, consumer, and nutritional sciences at St. Catherine University.

Q: It’s safe to follow the 5-second rule for dropped food, right?

A: It's probably not even safe to follow a 1-second rule: The transfer of bacteria from a contaminated surface to food is almost instantaneous—or, at the very least, quicker than your reflexes. In one study, Clemson University food scientist Paul Dawson, Ph.D., and students contaminated several surfaces (ceramic tile, wood flooring, and carpet) with Salmonella. They then dropped pieces of bologna and slices of bread on the surfaces for as little as 5 seconds and as long as 60 seconds.

After just 5 seconds, both food types had already picked up as many as 1,800 bacteria (more bad bugs adhered to the moisture-rich bologna than the bread); after a full minute, it was up to 10 times that amount.

These facts were taken from articles on http://www.prevention.com/ .

By the way, I was a bit surprised to hear that pre-cut veggies were rinsed in a chlorine solutions as well as bleached flour.  Then I realized that regular tap water is considered a chlorine rinse also.  Do you know how toxic chlorine is?  VERY!  I am quite glad my fruits, veggies and salads are rinsed in 11.5 Alkaline water (Kangen)...kills all bacteria and removes all chemicals so I can enjoy the real taste of my food.

Water or Coke?

We all learned “Things Go Better With Coke”, right? Don’t believe every jingle you hear.....

Soda (ALL soda, diet soda, sports drinks, energy drinks) are very acidic, and disease loves to grow in an acidic state
Soda is very oxidizing in your body, it can inflame, and oxidation is what ages us!
Soda is dehydrating...

And we all know we should drink more water, but why don’t we, or why are we still dehydrated?

Get this: All adult degenerative diseases have 3 things in common:
The sufferers test with an acidic pH, they have inflammation and oxidative stress, and they are dehydrated! You can connect the dots...

For the best solution I have found to my former addiction to reverse osmosis water and Diet Coke, and to the un-wellness we walk around in, check out the links at the bottom...
You decide: Water or Coke?

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it
is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8.. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79% and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
stains from vitreous china.
.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the
drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.
.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1 The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a Hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?
